Time for New Goals!
October 1, 2019
I know I may sound like a broken record but seriously…it’s OCTOBER!!! How did we get here so quickly? There’s hardly any Halloween decorations up in stores but Hobby Lobby has a ton of Christmas decor out already. It’s October, y’all! My grandma said that once I turned 18 that time would fly by and she was right! I miss her.
September, How did you go?
Well, how did I do on my September goals? Hmmm…well some I did well on and some, well, did I write those down? So, running I did ok on. Missed one long run but otherwise I’m sticking to the plan. Water intake, check! Doing well on that. I just carry around my water bottle and make sure I know where all the bathrooms are! Tracking my food intake…nope, nada, didn’t happen. Literally harder than running for me.
And, my 30 day challenges. We joined a golf course that has a gym. I may have mentioned that. They have some great classes and some personal trainers. I have been going to those instead of the 30 day challenges. So, we’ll call that a half accomplishment. They take longer so maybe I should be checking that box off too!
October, What’s it going to be?
- Continue to hydrate properly – I’m going to leave this one on there. It’s good to have a water intake goal and I really enjoy the My Water app. Did I mention it also alerts me on my Apple Watch?
- Fuel properly – This month I’m going to achieve this by meal planning. Making sure that I have protein and vegetables in the mix and at the appropriate times. I have two longer runs this month and I need to make sure that my protein intake is more on point. I’m also adding in a protein shake that I’ll use in the mornings and after those long runs. We’ll see if this helps keep strength up!
- Continue to go to classes – These classes are a mix of core, stretching, and big muscle groups. I have also been incorporating cycle classes into the mix. Especially on the weeks I don’t have those long runs! They’re hard but they help build up endurance!
- RUN – Most importantly, keep up with my training plan. I’m going to leave that just like it is. I know it’s the same as last month but putting in the miles is going to get harder as we get closer to the holidays. That’s when it’s going to be more important. Those long runs are a lot about spending the time on your feet and letting your brain know that you CAN DO THIS!
How I’m staying motivated, or trying to…
I’m big on being able to see things in order to stay motivated. Sometimes, I can overdo that part. Like having my training calendars everywhere but it helps me stay focused. Mantras are a great way to motivate as well. I recently started wearing a couple that I really like from Momentum Jewelry. They’re light weight and don’t jingle and are right in front of my face. They remind me to “be brave” and to “dig deep”. I love them. I don’t have to think, just look.
So, what will your October look like? How do you keep yourself motivated? Let me know! Leave me a comment!
Until next time, keep on truckin’!
Always love reading your blog, Hang in there. We raised you to make goals and accomplish them. Love you
