Princess Half Weekend…Just a little late

March 4, 2014

I know this is a little late, but I wanted to document the weekend.  Warning:  There are lots of pictures!  🙂

The Princess Half Weekend was our first runDisney event last year.  Needless to say, we were hooked after the 2013 Royal Family 5K.  I was so excited that they added the 10K for this year’s event.  I wasn’t quite ready for a half, although I was mad I didn’t sign up once I crossed the finish line for the 10K.  There’s always next year!  So this year’s events for our family included the 5K, the Kid’s Mile, and the 10K.

The three generations, mom, Twinkle Toes, and I enjoyed the morning during the 5K.

We had an Alice in Wonderland theme. Twinkle Toes was Alice (her shirt said “We’re all mad here”), mom was the Cheshire Cat, and I was the Mad Hatter.

Twinkle Toes ran the Kid’s Mile.  She had a ball and did it on her own.  I was nervous to let her go by herself, but she insisted and was so proud when she finished!  So was I!

The next morning was another early one with a 3:10 am EST alarm (we live in central and I don’t know how people farther west do it!)  The only snag we had came a few days before we left.  Mr. Man nor my dad was able to go with us to watch Twinkle Toes while mom and I participated in the 10K.  After a lot of research, I made a reservation with Kid’s Night Out, a Disney recommended sitter service.  I can tell you, that when you have to request a sitter for a 3:45 a.m. start time, you get a little nervous.  Will someone actually show up that early?  Will they be crazy?  Let me tell you, the sitter was awesome and early!  I would recommend this business to anyone.  She brought games and such to play with Twinkle Toes and was so pleasant that early in the morning!

We left the room and walked up to the monorail (we stayed in the Contemporary Garden Wing).  The monorail service that early was clutch despite the fact that the other half of the day it was undergoing maintenance.  Once we took the long walk from Epcot to the staging area, we ran into a mom/daughter combo that I work with.  So cool to see people that you actually know!

Ready! Set! Wait, we are in the last corral.

Then it was onto the corral to wait our turn to go through this beauty!

The start line! Sorry for the blurriness.

I loved the course!  Elsa on the overpass was beautiful and snowy!  Running the Boardwalk was my favorite!  Sorry, no pictures for this part.  I was focused!

So proud! My first runDisney 10K! A real medal!

We had a great time.  Our room was perfect; on the bottom floor with a little porch.  We had a great time in the park and made some more Disney memories!  I’m already excited about the Wine and Dine half and it’s over 240+ days away!
