Woah, it’s early

October 29, 2013

Well, the day started off earlier than it does when I run. I failed to mention that I was fortunate enough to move into an administrative position almost 4 years ago. This allowed me to be home more with Twinkle Toes. The downside was that I had to leave the girls that I had recruited mid season. It was a good career move but one that was bittersweet. I loved my girls (who have all graduated and moved on) but my family was priority #1.

All that gibberish leads me to why my day started super early. A few years ago, my boss encouraged me to apply for a position on the NCAA Division II Women’s Golf Committee. He felt that this would be a good merging of my past with my future. So I did. I’m in my 3rd year of my term and was nominated as committee chair in the 2012-13 academic year. It has been an awesome experience. I get to be involved in golf just in an administrative manner without the recruiting. That was the hardest part of coaching for me.

So now I’m on a plane headed to Charlotte for a site visit at Rock Barn Golf and Spa. We, my liaison from the NCAA and I, are meeting the local organizing committee to go over things for the national championship in May. I don’t have to travel much, but the month of May is a zoo.

Well, needless to say, I won’t be running today. Hopefully the hotel will have a nice gym and I can go in the morning.

Until next time…keep truckin’!
